Duck Shoots

Kielder Country Sport is a 325 acre estate situated in the heart of the beautiful Northumberland National Park. Only 3 miles from Kielder Water and Forest Park.

The estate has a good blend of both mature and young forestation with a diverse mixture of terrain. The land has a teeming abundance of wildlife and offers various outdoor sports and shooting opportunities.

We are delighted to be able to offer Duck Shooting days to include a quality brunch. The shoot benefits from the use of our own duck ponds which are situated in close proximity to the Upper Tyne attracting wild ducks which augment the very well stocked reared ducks. The ponds which are situated some 300 yards from the river Tyne are fed up daily and as well as retaining the reared ducks attract the wild ducks that fly up and down the river Tyne.

Land & topography

The estate whilst modest in acreage is teaming with a diverse mixture of wildlife. We have an abundance of deer which a separate stalking syndicate manage. The land is in the Heart of the Northumberland National Parks with stunning views of the North Tyne valley.The land is a mixture of hills,valleys, open grazing fields and mixed woodland. It has a mixture of ancient woodland and amenity woodland which was planted some 20 years ago. The estate has the North bank of the river Tyne running along its boundary and several brooks and small streams that run through it. There is a very well stocked flight pond which has a mixture of reared ducks and wild ducks.

Typical Itinerary

To start the day there is a complementary cooked breakfast & freshly brewed coffee at the Black Bull Hotel Bellingham at 9am for a 10am shoot start at Kielder Country Sport. After the morning shooting lunch is provided for you at the winning post horse box trailer bar, a selection of hot and cold food & drinks before starting the afternoon shoot.

Hospitality

Complementary cooked breakfast & freshly brewed coffee alongside lunch with a selection of hot and cold food & drinks. The estate also has bell  tents for hire for those who wish to experience a true outdoor shooting weekend. Photos provided by request. The Black Bull Hotel located in Bellingham is the sister company of Kielder Country Sport. Under new management since 2023, it is a fully refurbished county pub with rooms and restaurant.

About the hosts

Kielder Country Sport is a family run company that specialise in farming and outdoor activity's. It’s located at Donkleywood farm near Falstone. Kielder Country Sport was established in 2008 and is owned by Graham Varty and is helped run by his project manager Paul Wray and Paul Crow who has recently joined the team.
